Heil Europe's "EuroCycler"

Another major feature at the show was Heil Europe's 'EuroCycler' body. The two-stream semi-automated, soft compaction recycling unit has a split container on both sides of the body allowing simultaneous separation and loading of recyclables into the body chambers from either side. The EuroCycler has a body length of 7.7 metres and a capacity of 25.3m3, which is split 11.6m3 in the top compartment, and 13.7m3 in the bottom.

A EuroCycler in action

Cushioned cylinders ensure a smoother, quieter operation while other benefits include Heil's unique dual swing link action packing mechanism, which gives minimal glass breakage.

The EuroCycler is already being used by R U Recycling, a subsidiary of E Harper (York) Limited. R U Recycling specialises in dual stream kerbside collection and specified the Euro-Cycler to exploit the extra efficiency gained from compacted collections. The company already provides collection services to Blackburn, with Darwen Borough Council, and has ambitious plans for expansion.
