Firbank Chiltern Choose Heil Europe to Spread the Enviro Message
Dunstable based waste management company Firbank Chiltern has added a brand new Heil Europe Powerlink 22 to its fleet of 17 waste collection and recycling vehicles.
To celebrate the arrival of the new vehicle the company teamed up with Woburn Safari Park and launched a competition for local school children to design its livery with a recycling theme.
From the hundreds of entries received by the company, talented six year old Finn Selman from Marlow C of E Infant and Nursery School in Buckinghamshire was chosen as the overall winner. His fantastic drawing now adorns the sides of the 26 tonne Heil Europe vehicle. Finn received a framed picture of his artwork plus £200 in book vouchers for himself and his school and a special day at Woburn Safari Park.
Firbank Chiltern director Robert Firbank believes the environmental message is a major part of his business future “We have seen recycling volumes increase quite dramatically over the last few years” he said, “and with government ministers warning that we only have a few years of landfill still available our recycling activities are of paramount importance. We felt that involving local children in spreading the recycling message helps raise awareness throughout the community”.
“We chose the Heil Powerlink because the reliability of the product means less downtime and, therefore, a better performance for us”.
The newly designed Powerlink hydraulic system offers unique and unparalleled performance; reduced downtime; lower maintenance costs and less risk of environmental pollution.
The Powerlink, manufactured by Heil in Scotland, provides flexibility to any RCV fleet. With its full-cycle compaction mechanism, it produces less friction than conventional channelled compaction systems thus ensuring that a greater force is directed into the load. The reduction of friction increases durability of materials, improving whole life costs.
