Viridor's New Heil Powerlink Saves Time and Money
The Canterbury depot of Viridor Waste Management has just received a new Heil Europe Powerlink 26 with UTL, specially modified with a low-entry cab to increase daily productivity.
Viridor Waste Management is one of the UK's leading waste management companies. They are currently operating 25 regional landfill sites, numerous regional recycling facilities and 189 waste processing sites UK-wide. The Canterbury depot has 24 refuse collection vehicles operating throughout the East Kent area.
Operations Manager Frank Gardner specifically requested the largest Heil Powerlink – 26m3 – with the variation of the low entry cab and automatic gearbox.
“The vehicles have to be serious workhorses as they are out there from dawn ‘til dusk every day” said Mr Gardner. “I have found that by using a low entry cab and an automatic gearbox we can save at least an hour a day in productivity. The crew can enter and exit the cab more easily and with less effort and without heavy gear shifting to think about the vehicle can move around the streets quicker”.
The Heil Powerlink has a full-cycle compaction mechanism that produces less friction than conventional channelled compaction systems and therefore increases durability improving the whole life costs of the vehicle.
“The reliability of the vehicle is another massive consideration for us” added Frank. “Heil Europe has a reputation for providing flexible solutions without compromising on reliability and durability throughout the life of the vehicle”.
