12 new Heils for Carlisle City Council

Carlisle City Council will add two new Heil Powerlinks to their fleet in May, with a further ten units being delivered later this summer.

Last year almost 50% of Carlisle’s waste was recycled and the fleet of 12 Heil’s will go to work to further improve on this success. Made up of 9 Powerlinks, mounted on Mercedes Econic 6x4 26t chassis and 3 Powertraks on Dennis 6x2 narrow 24t chassis, the vehicles will be used for a combination of domestic waste and green waste recycling material, collected from a total of 45,000 homes.

Carlisle City Council choose Heil after performing a rigorous tender exercise and evaluation process. Carlisle City Council’s Transport Manager Laurence Silverwood said “When deciding on which company to use we considered many things including costings and back up service, Heil came up trumps as they offered the best value for money.”

The Heil Powerlink has a full-cycle compaction mechanism that produces less friction than conventional channelled compaction systems and therefore increases durability improving the whole life costs of the vehicle.

The Powertrack, long-established workhorse of the Heil range of RCVs, is available in both narrow and standard widths. Manufactured by Heil in Scotland, it provides flexibility to any RCV fleet.

All Heil Europe RCV’s are manufactured to the highest specification and, as well as a quality product, the company offer excellent warranty and back-up service.
